John Hitchcock
John Hitchcock is vice president and managing director of Energy Intelligence Group, which for more than 70 years has provided news, analysis, data and research to the global energy industry. In his 15 years with the company, John has overseen operations and co-led projects touching all areas of the company.
His experience prior to Energy Intelligence includes a year as editor and publisher of special projects for Institutional Investor’s U.S. and international editions. For the previous 26 years John worked for Dow Jones & Co., publisher of the Wall Street Journal, serving as the first Middle East correspondent of the company’s joint venture with the Associated Press and later as a Tokyo-based regional reporter, London bureau chief and ultimately managing editor of the joint venture. In his final purely editorial role, he oversaw all Dow Jones real-time news operations in the Americas, including the “Ticker.” John’s last years with Dow Jones were spent as a vice president responsible for the bottom line of its commodities, energy and Latin American real-time news businesses, including its Spanish-language news service; and as director of sales to the U.S. East Coast financial industry for the company’s Enterprise Media Group.
John holds a BA in Psychology from Kalamazoo College and an MS in Journalism from Northwestern University. A Detroit native, he now divides his time between New York City and rural Rhode Island. He remains, however, an unapologetic fan of all things Detroit.
